pinnawala elephant orphanage

                  Pinnawala elephant orphange was opend in 1975. It was establised by the sri lankan Department of wildlife and Conservation.It is situatedd in Pinnawala in Kegalle district.



                         In the beginning there were only five ophaned baby elephants and now it was extended upto 88 elephants which include 37 male elephants and 51 female elephants which belongs to three generations.There are 48 workers who give the protection to them.







        
           

             Adult elephanta eat about 250kg of plants like jak fruit, coconut, kithul and some amount of rice too.And for the infant elephants they have to feed them some milk.As this place present elephants natural habitat this place gets more attraction from foriegners as well as from sri lankans.

  • sri lankan child with uniform- Rs.20
  • foriegn adult- Rs.2500
  • foriegn child-Rs.1250
