  • Dondra
 Dondra is the south most tip of the island. The point of dondra is considered as the southern corner of Srilanka. Dondra is situated about 6Kms away from Matara. Also Dondra is considered as the city of the Vishnu God. The history of this city date back to 660AD. There are many places to visit in Dondra such as light house, ancient temple and Devalaya, fishing harbour and awesome sea beach.


Dondra Temple & Devalaya

The history of  this temple and Dewalaya runs back to 660AD. The Devundara Devalaya that stands today is blue in color to represent God Vishnu. Many devotees from around the Island and world come to the Devalaya daily.  And also the ruins of an ancient temple that would have occupied the space, still remains.

Dondra Light House

This was constructed by English in 1887 and the all materials for this building was imported from England. The height of the light house is about 50m and it contains 7 floors. The views of the ocean  around the light house is quite breathtaking.
